The dark side of the city

‘We want to thank you for every thing you did for us. We are now free to go on with our lives.’

It is Martin Luther King Day, a holiday in America. A man calls Nat Marley who is a private investigator. He wants him to investigate his sister's
husband, because his behavior is strange. Then, the investigator decides to go to his pets hop to meet him, pretending to buy a snake for his son’s birthday. Nat gets clues, obtaining a helping hand from some people. In fact, he sees the strange petshop owner carry a bag. Surprisingly, there are drugs inside the bag. Why does the petshop owner carry them instead of carrying animals? I felt sympathy for him, because there was an important reason.
