The Last Leaf and Other Story

"In the 1890s, many artist lived in Greenwich Village in  New York City. Sue and Johnsy were artists. The two girls first met each other in the month of May, at a restaurant in Greenwich Village."

Sue and Johnsy are artists and they live in the same apartment.  In December, Johnsy has pneumonia. Her doctor tells Sue to make her happy again because she lost her motivation to live. One day, Sue hears her counting backwards, looking out of the window. It is about leaves of the next house's old vine. As the leaves fall gradually, her ill is getting worse. An old artist called Berhman lives downstairs and he always says 'One day, I will paint a wonderful picture.'  One nigh when he knows about her, there is a storm. Finally, all the leaves fall, except the last leaf next morning. Few days latter, the leaf is still on the vine. Johnsy gets better by looking at it. In fact, the leaf is a gift for her from a person.
I was moved by the story. Doing something for someone is wonderful.
